The Third Farewell Letter

ENGLISH
One day,
I think I finally learned to keep
unfinished memories.
Electronic carrier pigeons toss between dawn and dusk,
an iron-curtain garden cages its tangled blooms.

April cherry blossoms in full flower,
withered overnight—
and suddenly I understood every farewell I had rehearsed:
that same moon shared with the children,
the moon of Borges and Li Bai,
a deliberate creation of fate and chance,
the ancients and the living flowing like water.

It turns out we have all been reciting the same parable:
no need to reach what comes closest to eternity.
Just as the wind embraces a daisy,
I choose to watch this world.

One day,
I think I finally understood—long,
long ago,
when the world was still young.

bien longtemps,
quand le monde était encore jeune.
