Ph.D. student in Special Education at UT Austin, previously at UCL London and East China Normal University. Instead of explaining myself, I'd rather you scroll through my photographs, read my writing and poems, and browse my research — they'll tell you more than a bio ever could.
When I'm not buried in critical theory, I'm driving my convertible top-down along Lake Travis at sunset, or sitting in the dark at Alamo Drafthouse — 70 films in six months, Top Brass status unlocked. I have a soft spot for concertos of all kinds: Schumann when I'm melancholic, Tchaikovsky when I need to feel everything at once, and Ravel when the writing is finally going well.
I share my life with three cats: a chubby calico British Shorthair and a Chinese tabby (Li Hua) back in Shanghai, and the world's most adorable cow cat named Qiuqiu here in Texas. If she's caught your attention — and she should — scroll down to meet her.
I am Qiyun jiejie's cow cat and my name is Qiuqiu! I am the black and white kind, but everyone says I am the most beautifulest black and white they ever seen. I think they are very correct.
My most favoritest thing in the whole world is curling up in Qiyun jiejie's arms while she does her research. I lay right next to her keyboard and sometimes I accidentally step on some keys, but jiejie says what I type has more depth than her dissertation. I don't really know what that means but it sounds like a compliment so I will take it.
My daily schedule goes like this: morning sunbathing, lunch sunbathing, afternoon also sunbathing, and at night I pretend I am a scarf and wrap myself around jiejie's neck. Sometimes I also chase my own tail but that is advanced athletics and you humans would not understand.
Oh wait I have a very importantest question — Qiyun jiejie's PhD takes four years right?? So after I accompany her through the whole thing, do I also get a PhD degree? Should I email UT Austin and ask them myself? I think I am very qualified, I have already participated in many many papers (mostly by sitting on them).
